NavCal Marine Services LLCMulti-Engine Motor Vessel Monitor (Under Development)
The Multi-Engine Motor Vessel Monitor (NCMEMVM) uses a small microprocessor to capture analog and digital signals like oil pressure, engine RPMs, and bilge and/or fire alarms. This microprocessor performs data conversion on the input signal and displays the values on a small (5 by 5 by 1.5 deep) 4-line by 20-character back-lighted LCD terminal located in the pilothouse. The system also accepts GPS input to provide latitude, longitude, course, and speed over ground. Fire and bilge alarm signals can also be captured by the pilothouse terminal/microprocessor for alarm warnings. This device is designed to monitor up to four engines or generators or any mixture thereof. Engine status shows water temperature, oil pressure, RPMs, and battery voltage. Generators show water, oil, frequency, and battery voltage. The system also senses and displays AC and DC voltages to twelve-bit (4+ digit) accuracy. A mockup of standard electronic gauges and test programming has been completed. Once all the preliminary signal definitions are finalized it may be possible to include some amount of waypoint functionality using river daymarks.
