NavCal River Rides 865-765-3407SPECIAL, SPRING LONGER DISTANCE WEEKEND CRUISE TO SPRING CITY AT WEEKDAY RATES!Join NavCal on this Springtime, flower viewing, two-day cruise to Spring City
and return. You will enjoy sights of the many beautiful homes and gardens along the way
with flowers in full spring bloom. See Crescent Bend Gardens with its 35,000 tulips as we
pass by down river on our way past Louisville, Ft Loudon Marina, Thief Neck Cutoff,
and on to Arrowhead Resort and Marina. This 206 mile (round trip) cruise will take us
through Fort Loudon lock with its 75 foot drop/life. This is the second deepest lock on
the entire Tennessee River and the lock through experience alone is worth the trip. Please remember to bring your cameras so you can capture the beauty of our river. You will receive a free copy of our TENNESSEE RIVER GUIDE BOOK so you can track our progress and record the location of your pictures. The Guide Book contains Latitude and Longitude of all river daymarks so you can revisit interesting locations with you're friends on Google Earth after the trip. We will depart 300 Neyland Drive (Star Landing) promptly at 9:00 a.m. Saturday 30 April 2011 with boarding 30 minutes prior to departure. We should arrive at Fort Loudon Marina (Lenoir City) at noon for a rest stop and then down through the lock shown at the left (upbound picture). This lock has a 360' by 60' foot chamber and is the uppermost lock on the Tennessee.
After the lock passage we will have lunch aboard (tea, coffee, and sodas provided free). You can bring a lunch with you or we can provide lunches from Panera Bread. After lunch aboard we will pass under the Highway 11 Bridges at Loudon then under the Kingston Highway Bridge as we pass the mouth of the Clinch River. Next on down river to the I-75 (Pellissippi Parkway) Bridges and on to Arrowhead.
Arrowhead Resort includes The Front Porch Restaurant in the marina store building shown to the left on its grounds. Here we will spend a relaxing evening and recount the many sights we enjoyed on the downbound trip over a leisurely dinner. Bring your camera and River Guide to dinner with you to share your pictures and notes. You may bring reasonable amounts of wine to enjoy with your dinner. The restaurant can prepare a sandwich lunch for the return trip if you like and you can pick them up after breakfast. We will enjoy a hot breakfast in the restaurant before our return trip on Sunday morning. After dinner you can stroll the grounds, rock in the front porch rockers or just retire to your room for the night.
We will spend the night in the cabins shown to the right and you will need make room reservations directly with Arrowhead by calling 423-365-6484 AFTER we confirm the cruise will go (requires a minimum of 10 passengers).
